The family was nominated by Hospice Austin. Samantha Martínez, left, and Ana Laura Martínez Aranda, right, care for Olga Aranda Guzmán. Aranda Guzmán has been in a hospital bed in the living room.

Aranda, 62, is currently in hospice care for renal failure and congestive heart failure. Recently, she's been in the hospital, but is home and not doing well.

The separation from her extended family and years of being a stay-at-home mom has left Aranda isolated. In Spain, she’s used to gregarious holiday get-togethers with 50 relatives.
