Google is refreshing the way the Android robot logo and wordmark look, as reported by 9to5Google. The robot logo is getting a 3D head, and the Android wordmark is getting a capital A.

While the app icons have followed the flat design trend, the Android robot has been transformed into a 3D representation. This logo redesign appears to indicate more than just a grammatical shift.

The last major Android logo change — if you can call it that — happened in 2019 with the introduction of the flat lowercase "android" name and green robot head we know today (above).

The robot is supposed to be more playful, as you might expect a robot associated with the Android brand to be. Here’s the cleanest look you’ll find of the new Android robot.
