While HD DVD players can be had for as low as $269 at NewEgg, compared to $439 for the cheapest Sony Blu-Ray player, there appear to be no HD DVD burners on the market whatsoever.
Acer has given its "gemstone-design" Aspire laptop line-up a polish and chiseled out two more machines. They're coloured blue, so it's no surprise perhaps that both offer optional Blu-ray Disc drives.
Unlike the ASUS Eee PC 1004DN, however, this is no DVD burner but a Vmedia drive. Vmedia uses 32mm Blu-ray discs, loaded inside tiny plastic cartridges, each with 1GB capacity.
I'm having trouble finding any "current" recommendations for an internal Blu-Ray drive. Or is there a compelling reason to go with a drive that can also burn? I'm not intending to ever burn ...
