Last weekend I was in Pinehurst, N.C., where I spotted a rarely seen and mint condition 1965 AMC Rambler Marlin. The American Motors Corp. produced this model from 1965 to 1967.
The catch is simple – while AMC offered the Marlin with a variety of engines, including 290 ci and 343 ci V8s, the base model featured a 232 ci inline-six with just 155 horsepower.
The four-barrel unit provided 270 horses as the range-topping option. The 1966 Marlin is also a rare classic. While AMC sold 10,327 units in 1965, deliveries dropped to only 4,547 examples in 1966.
The 1965 AMC Rambler Marlin was a fastback version of the company s mid-size Rambler Classic. Bill Vance Nash Motor Co. and Hudson Motor Car Co. merged to form American Motors Corp. in 1954.
