Launched during the middle of the model year, the 1965 Marlin was produced in 10,327 units. That wasn't a particularly impressive figure, yet for AMC, it was more than management expected.

Although only marginally more expensive than the Rambler Classic 770, the Marlin was unsuccessful. AMC sold only 17,419 units from 1965 through 1967.
