More than a year ago, Stone Garrett was carted off the field at Nationals Park after suffering a gruesome leg injury. His first game back proved to be something special.

Stone Garrett homered in his first major league plate appearance in more than a year in a three-hit, three-RBI effort and the Washington Nationals ended a four-game losing streak with a 9-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Stone Garrett suffered a broken left fibula and a torn ligament in his ankle on play at the wall in Yankee Stadium late in August of 2023, but he was back on the field this past spring. He’d worked hard over the winter to have a shot at picking up where he left off before the injury.

Stone Garrett made an emphatic return to the major leagues, driving in three runs while finishing a triple shy of the cycle as the Washington Nationals pounded the visiting Philadelphia Phillies 9-1 on Friday.
