But an excerpt teased this week offered a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the queen’s cause of death.

Queen Elizabeth II was battling bone cancer before her death, according to a new book. Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson describes, in his new memoir, “ Unleashed ,” his final meeting with the late monarch, who passed away on September 8, 2022, at 96.

In a chapter from his upcoming memoir Unleashed, Johnson recalls his final meeting with the monarch at Balmoral on September 6, 2022, two days before her death, claiming staffers tried to warn him her condition had deteriorated.

Royal reporter Robert Jobson disclosed details in his book, “Catherine, the Princess of Wales: A Biography of the Future Queen,” that Elizabeth II felt “terribly frail” owing to a battle with a type of bone marrow cancer known as myeloma.

Johnson met with the late monarch two days before her death to resign from his position as the UK's Prime Minister. He detailed the meeting in his new book, "Unleashed."
