The following closings and delays have been reported for Thursday, Feb. 20, due to snow: --- Stafford County Public Schools are closed to students and 12-month staff is on a two-hour delay. --- Fauquier County Public Schools will open on a two-hour delay.

With snow back in the forecast, school districts across Northern Virginia announced that classes have been canceled or will be held virtually on Wednesday. This comes after the National Weather Service (NWS) issued winter weather advisories for part of Virginia and Maryland with snow accumulations between one and two inches.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the District of Columbia, parts of Maryland, and northern Virginia due to expected heavy snowfall. The warning will be in effect from 1 PM today until 7 AM tomorrow, with snow accumulations expected between 3 to 8 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

The last in a long train of storms will bring snow and ice to the Mid-Atlantic and Carolinas on Wednesday. While Washington will be near the northern edge of the storm starting late in the morning — with a dusting to a half-inch of snow possible in the District and areas to the south by the evening — impacts will be moderate to major farther south.
