Bruno Sacco, who defined what we think of when we think of a modern Mercedes, has died. Sacco oversaw the biggest-selling models in the brand’s history, from the 190 to the SL roadster and all the cars, trucks, and SUVs made from 1975 to 1999 and beyond. He wanted his designs to show the quality and technological superiority of each vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that Bruno Sacco died at the age of 90 in Sindelfingen, Germany on Sept. 19. Sacco was one of the best-known automotive designers in Mercedes history and lead a team that penned some of Mercedes-Benz's most memorable vehicles.
