The Melbourne community is reeling from the tragic loss of Ed Millear, a 17-year-old student at Melbourne Grammar School, who passed away on February 19, 2025, after collapsing during a rowing training session the previous day.

Melbourne Grammar School student Ed Millear, 17, was training at the school’s boat shed next to the Yarra River when he collapsed about 4.40pm. He was treated at the scene before being rushed to The Alfred Hospital in a critical condition. The student was admitted to the ICU and put on a ventilator however died about 3am on Wednesday.
