BELAGAVI: Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi has expressed regret over her inability to attend the historic CWC meeting being held in Belagavi on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the 1924 Congress Session.

Earlier today, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused the BJP of deliberately weakening democratic institutions at the Congress Working Committee's (CWC) "Nav Satyagraha Baithak" in Belagavi, as the party commemorated the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s 1924 presidency.

Taking a swipe at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the former Congress chief called for a fight against the forces she accused of creating a toxic atmosphere that led to Mahatma Gandhi's assassination.

Congress is holding its CWC meeting on December 26 and 27 in Belagavi to celebrate the centenary of the 1924 session of the party.

Asserting that Mahatma Gandhi has been and will continue to be the fundamental source of inspiration, Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chief Sonia Gandhi on Thursday (December 26, 2024) said his legacy is under threat from those in power in Delhi and the ideologies and institutions that have nurtured them.

Former congress President Sonia Gandhi in her message to the Extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting organised on the occasion of centenary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi taking over as the President of the grand old party in Karnataka's Belagavi asserted that the legacy of the Father of the Nation is "under threat from those in power in Delhi".

Taking a swipe at the PM Modi-led BJP government, Sonia Gandhi highlighted that Mahatma Gandhi has been and will continue to be the fundamental source of inspiration.

Launching a scathing attack on the BJP-led government at the Centre on Thursday, Sonia Gandhi alleged that the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi is under "threat" from the ruling dispensation.
