The 17-year-old photographer with terminal cancer described her experience meeting Prince William and Princess Kate in a new interview

Liz Hatton, a U.K. 16-year-old fighting a rare and aggressive form of cancer, was invited to spend Wednesday afternoon at Windsor Castle photographing an investiture ceremony led by Prince William. She was treated to an unforgettable afternoon, but got another surprise: A personal meeting and hug from Kate Middleton and the prince of Wales.

Scans revealed tumors on Hatton's ovaries and liver after she experienced abdominal pain over Christmas. Only about a dozen people are diagnosed with the aggressive form of cancer in England every year, according to cancer charity Sarcoma UK, and no standard treatment regimen exists.
