Rep. Juandalynn Givan, a Democratic lawmaker from Birmingham who has been outspoken about the need to respond to gun violence, said today she is introducing a bill to ban bump stocks in Birmingham.

Alabama State Representative Juandalynn Givan is introducing a bill prohibiting possession of a bump stock at the beginning of the 2025 regular session. The bill comes after a mass shooting on Sept. 21 that left four dead and 17 injured in the Five Points neighborhood.

The legislation follows a mass shooting in Birmingham’s Five Points South on September 21 that killed four people and wounded 17 others.
