January's full moon, known as the wolf moon, comes after the Volunteer State and much of the South is expected to be blanketed in snow from a major winter storm pushing up from the Mexico/Texas border. But by the time Monday's full moon rolls around, Tennesseans should have clear (but chilly) conditions in which to see the full moon's peak.

The January full moon was called the "Center Moon" by the Assiniboine people of the Northern Great Plains, according to the Farmer's Almanac, which noted that the name "refers to the idea that this moon roughly marks the middle of the cold season."

The Wolf Moon will arrive on Jan. 13, 2025, at 05:27 p.m. ET, according to NASA. The moon will appear full for about three days around this time, from Sunday evening into Wednesday morning, the agency said.
