The Supreme Court has appeared divided in a case over whether states should be able to cut off Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood.

The U.S. Supreme Court is deciding whether states can deny Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood because the organization’s clinics perform abortions. The Trump administration has also temporarily frozen $27 million in Title X family planning funding designated for Planned Parenthood.

Several key conservatives on the Supreme Court left open the possibility on Wednesday that they could side with Planned Parenthood in a dispute with South Carolina over its decision to yank that organization’s Medicaid funding because it provides abortions.
