Is there an entrance fee to the tomb? When we were there, the souvenir shop opposite the tomb told us we have to pay them an entrance fee of 2$ each, which seemed sketchy as there is also a donation box for the upkeep of the tomb.
I ran out of time last spring to visit Lazarus' Tomb, but I plan to return in March 2016. Can I walk there from the Mount of Olives, or where is the best place to catch a taxi? Which bus? Cost? I travel solo, should I worry? Thanks.

I know this was asked over a year ago, but I'd like the answer available to those who follow. It is easy and inexpensive to visit the Tomb of Lazarus by bus from Jerusalem. 1. Go to the Arab Bus Station: "Sultan Suleiman Central Station" in Nablus Road. This station is located straight across from Damascus Gate, on a U shaped turnout behind a few buildings, at the base of Golgotha/Calvary's Hill. (From this bus station you can look up to the side and see people in the Garden Tomb gazing at Golgotha.) 2. Look for Bus 263. Al-Azariya--means Lazarus in Arabic. 3. Pay with Israeli coins, exact change not needed, but no large bills accepted. About 2USD. Tell the Bus driver you want Tomb of Lazarus....Lazar. 4. Enjoy the ride, about 40 minutes. 5. The last stop is Tomb of Lazarus. It's near a signpost that clearly says Tomb of Lazarus, with an arrow to point the way. 6. You'll walk up a steep alleyway lined with souvenir shops...and they need your business, the wall obviously decreases business...The tomb isn't far--about 5 minutes--and clearly marked. There is a very small fee to enter the tomb. 7. Catch the return bus just across the street from where you were dropped off as the bus will be going in the other direction. The Christian Information Center Jerusalem website has great info regarding buses, opening/closing times of Christian sites. Check that site for updates.
