Fontana, as a local council, is an administrative unit of Malta, on the island of Gozo, with a population of 985 people. Fontana originated from the suburb of Victoria on the Rabat-Xlendi road. It took its local name, "It-Triq tal-Għajn", from a spring at the bottom of the road leading to Xlendi, known locally as "l-Għajn il-Kbira",. Fontana is the Italian word for a spring.
