Road is only open to private cars in winter. So many great pullouts to visit for different sunset views. Make sure you go all the way visit the Hermit Hut.Full review by My_name_is_Paesan

It is 18.6 miles round trip and a very strenuous hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. You can also hike 2.5 miles to Santa Maria Spring which is about 5–8 hours, round-trip. Although usually in good condition it is not a maintained trail.
