It is some years since we had visited Gilbert White's house, so we chose it as the destination for my birthday outing. It was definitely a mistake as the garden was looking very tired and colourless… Full review by Julie A

As the previous replier suggested, it's probably best to contact Gilbert White's House directly — they should have more information on other possible parking options if the official car park is full. I also don't know the village very well.

Hi. It is hard to tell depending on your interests. There is the house itself, with interesting storyboards relating to Gilbert White. Upstairs is the Oates Museum and there are many exhibits and background boards there as well. The garden, it quite extensive and depending on the time of year you visit and the weather, would need extra time. Realistically, perhaps two hours would cover it, and there is a cafe in the building plus interesting pubs and cafes separately in the village. There is also a good quality gift shop in the house. Have a good trip
