The White Temple is south of Chiang Rai and best done en route from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, if you are in road transport. Perhaps 20 minutes south of CR. While the Black House is a little way north east of CR, maybe 15 minutes. We were lucky that we found a brilliant driver in CM, whose family home was on the Thai bank of the Mekong River looking into Laos, who took us on a personal tour over two days from CM to CR, taking in White Palace, tea plantation, Black House, monkey temple and then Myanmar, Laos, the Mekong and the Golden Triangle. Enjoy, anyway!
