WEBJun 4, 2020 · Replacing fork seals on 81 CB650 with air assisted forks (how to) The shop manual details how to remove seals without taking the forks apart using a shop press. Now, here is how to do it for us lesser mortals without a fancy press: remove front wheel, fender, brake assembly, air line between fork tubes. use 8mm 1.0 bolts (short ones).

WEBFeb 24, 2013 · The '81 should have CV carbs, which give them a good bit of grunt. The best part about the 650's is there are no points to adjust, you do still need to adjust the air gaps of the inductive pick-ups, which is a piece of piss. I have sat on the highway all day on mine, they'll spin happily all day at 5-6000rpm.

If its running better without a filter, the you have a rich condition happening in your Mainjet and/or Needle circuits. Dirty airfilter, overly large mainjets (if not stock) or needles raised too high will do it. Logged.

I took the carbs off checked the main jets and they are still clean, Floats seem fine, choke plates are all in unison, throttle plates move in unison. I took the push cable off which was keeping the throttle from snapping back closed.

WEBDec 26, 2014 · I have read that certain cb750 and cb550 carbs can works but with little specificity as to which years. Ideally I would like to get away from the 81 CB650 carbs (VB44A) with pressed in pilot jets, which are harder to find anyway. Beining that there is an abundance of cb750 and 550 carb racks on ebay, I thought it was worth exploring.

WEBJul 15, 2019 · Re: 81 cb650 no spark or start. Won’t really make a difference, but your ground wire is in the wrong place. Should be attached to the engine bolt that the rear brake switch attaches to. If I were to get this bike I would see that misplaced ground as a warning to go over the entire electrical system.

WEBMay 1, 2010 · Re: The Damn CB650 ignition. Kit, Check your spark timing (ignition) with a timing light. Either spark or cam timing that is out of adjustment can cause "hot start" issues. If this is the bobber project bike that you sorted out in a prior thread- there is NO DOUBT in my mind that you will find the problem.

WEBDec 1, 2008 · Re: CB650 carbs. Oh by the way, the cb650 carbs leaking profusely when the float needles appear in good condition is caused by the accelerator pump adjustment. There must be 004" + clearance between the pump shaft and the actuator linkage. Bill.
